Keep Praying for Liverpool and New York!
When you think of Liverpool, what comes to mind? Maybe great music, great football teams, the River Mersey?
Liverpool also boasts two of the greatest Cathedrals built in the 20th Century – the Catholic, Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King and the Church of England, Liverpool Cathedral. Both these buildings were built to make a statement, to draw people in and to bring glory to God.
Fantastic as these buildings are…they are only buildings, a place where God’s people meet.
Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 12 v 27 that we:
‘are Christ's body, and individually members of it.’
And in Colossians 1 v 18 that Jesus is:
‘head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything.’
It’s great to be reminded that the church is us, we are Christ’s body, His representatives on earth and that He is the head of the church – He will be made known, He will take first place over everything.
As we heard at ENOUGH on the 29th March 2019, something incredible is happening in Liverpool and in New York – the church of Christ is expanding, growing, moving forward….two church plants are happening. Two churches that, along with other churches in Liverpool and New York, will endeavour to make Jesus famous in these two great cities.
Let’s continue to pray for these two church plants, specifically for Liverpool:
Pray for a leader for the church plant.
Pray for people to be stirred to join the church plant.
And for New York:
Pray for growth.
Pray for a new venue.
Pray for a worship leader to join the church.
And as we do let’s pray that Jesus, the head of the church, will indeed take his rightful place in the minds and hearts of Liverpudlians and New Yorkers and have first place in everything!
